Palm Sunday Is A Holiday

Palm Sunday is a Christian holiday that marks the beginning of Holy Week and the memory of Jesus' triumphant return to the city of Jerusalem. In 2011, Palm Sunday will be celebrated on April 17.
While the return to Jerusalem, describes all four canonical Gospels, the tradition of Palm Sunday are largely based on the description in the Gospel of John.By dismissing him with palm branches and use them to cover it the way he rode into town on a donkey, the crowd indicated that He was revered and respected at the level of royalties.
To celebrate this event, many Christian churches - both Catholic and Protestant, and Eastern churches - to distribute palm leaves at a meeting of members, who then spend them in the inside or outside the church. Often, palm leaves tied or woven into crosses, which may be individuals in their homes as a reminder of the lessons of Holy Week. In parts of the world, where palm leaves are not readily available, and other native plants can be replaced, and Palm Sunday can be alternatively called Yew Sunday, Willow Sunday, or what is used in the area.
Liturgy for Palm Sunday service usually follows the palm procession with the reading of the story of passion - a significant reminder that many of those, the crowd welcomed Jesus into Jerusalem will participate in the crowds that cheer for his death less than a week.
