Boston's Zdeno Chara skated for the Canadiens winger Max Pacioretty, as he was chasing the puck near the bench in Boston. Chara checked Pacioretty and head collided head on the glass.
22-year-old was motionless on the ice for several minutes until he was carried off on stretchers.
The judges gave Chara 5-minute major for interference and Game Misconduct.
Pacioretty, reportedly "conscious and moving his extremities" after he was taken to hospital.
According to NESN, Chara said after the game that he knew they were going to the bench, but he did not intend to hurt Pacioretty.
