Minister of Education Heng Swee Keith said that his ministry will focus on three outcomes: values, social and emotional competence, as well as new skills in thinking, such as more globally aware.
Mr Heng said during his visit to Gongshang Primary School on Saturday morning, where he was to collect feedback on what needs to be done to improve the education system.
He also shared his views at a workshop with parents.
According to Mr. Khan, the entrance to the workshop will help shape the direction in which he charts the education system.
"I look at how we can better support our school leaders and teachers in the implementation of this education, and how we can make as parents and as part of this very important process."
During the seminar, some parents expressed concern about students with financial difficulties may be left behind, and can not afford textbooks, such as computers.
Others wanted to know how they can provide a place their children in their school of choice during the initial registration of the annual exercise.
While all this was happening, many parents did not know that the Minister of Education was sitting in the back of the room to listen and take notes.
In the middle of the seminar, Mr Heng made his presence felt as he addressed the issues that were raised up.
Mr Heng said: "The first criteria is really close if you have a school nearby, which is the best because you really do not want the child to be able to travel long distances saying that schools are very good resources, MOE provides .. . facilities to all schools.
"We have a centralized message teachers and principals in schools, and we guarantee that there is a certain standard in all our elementary schools. The fact that many of you here today is very encouraging. This shows that as parents, you care a lot about their children's education . And it is very important in Singapore. "
Mr. Chen said his visit was to get a real sense of what is happening in schools.
"I did not want to disrupt the interaction. I try to spend a lot of time on the ground, interacting with our principals, our teachers and our students, because that is where the teaching and learning occur"
