Is May 21st End of the World?

Water for Elephants
Water for ElephantsI'm sure you already heard that some people say that the doomsday will be held today, May 21, at exactly 6 pm - is the local time wherever you were, if you're going to a picnic. This means that you can watch the destruction of ripple their way around the world, until it reaches you. Oh, happy day.

One end of the world touting this time, Harold Camping, 89-year-old Christian fundamentalist and founder of Family Radio network, which, incidentally, said the same thing will happen in 1994, and when it does not, he said that he must be calculated correctly. His confidence in this once again on the basis of its Byzantine settlement of flood and Numbers in the Bible that even Einstein could decipher. He also points to the recent distribution of earthquakes and tornadoes, as a sign that we are on our last legs. Yes , and let's not forget the added shame that gay people are thriving. This is another sure sign to him that the end is inevitable. The only problem with the Biblical predictions camping is that it is not very biblical. One certain thing that the Bible says about the end time that you do not know when it will come. It will come as a thief in the night, surprising everyone. Obviously Camping and his followers think that they are involved in insider information, that Jesus himself certainly never be given.

Historically, these kinds of forecasts the end of the world seems to peak during the financial constraints and the global crisis. No arguments, which we certainly met that criterion. However, more than the intention to make predictions, those adhering to these theories seems to be an attempt to avoid suffering or death. To be visible in the Rapture means that you are exempt from this vale of tears. Chalk up at the sky in the blink of an eye. Thus, for Jesus said that we must take up our cross. That's not to mention the fact that only 144,000, is expected to be saved. That's one healthy unit in Brooklyn! Thus leaving a lot of the righteous-minded Christians, I wonder where they went wrong.

Now, I would not want to cast aspersions on the beliefs one. But when religion is replaced by fear of rumors that insults our intelligence by God, he should be named for what it is: a bad interpretation of the Bible and theology is bad. The world might actually end anything, but we do not know the day or hour. One thing we do know, however, that all of our worlds really end one day. That is why, as Chris Allen sings: "We must live as die." Because we do it. I just do not think it will happen this Saturday. But, hey, I've been wrong before.
