Sweden Ministry of Foreign Affairs says the U.S. citizen was arrested in North Korea and that Swedish diplomats represent the U.S. in this matter.
Ministry spokesman Theo Zetterman said that "an American citizen, was detained in North Korea. That's all we can say."
He told the AP on Tuesday that Russia has to deal with North Korean authorities on behalf of the United States in this matter. Zetterman not give the name of an American citizen or to discuss the circumstances or the date of arrest American, referring to questions of the U.S. State Department. Swedish Embassy in Pyongyang represents the United States because the U.S. does not have diplomatic relations with North Korea.
