Texas Rangers slugger Josh Hamilton was expected to sit for six to eight weeks after fracturing his upper right arm Tuesday while trying to Score from third base on a popup that will not leave the infield in Detroit.
Hamilton said a foul pop near the Tigers dugout at all. Third baseman Brandon Inge and catcher Victor Martinez ran the ball, leaving the unprotected plate when Inge made a catch.
Martinez was able to take steps away from Inge and running in time to tag out diving Hamilton.
Hamilton left the game and the team says he has not displaced fracture of the humerus in the upper arm, just below the shoulders. Hamilton is not expected to swing the bat during the month.
