Federal shutdown averted at last minute

Congressional leaders and President Obama went off the federal government with less than two hours to spare in the tentative agreement a budget that cut $ 38 billion from the federal budget this year.

After several days of intense negotiations and partisan strife, House Republicans have reached a preliminary agreement with the White House and Senate Democrats over funding the government over the next six months, a stubborn impasse that threatens to disrupt federal operations across the country and around the world.

Speaker of the John A. Boehner, who pressed for the reduction of the Democrats looking for new members of the conservative majority of the House, introduced a broad package of spending cuts and policy provisions, and won a positive response from its rank and file shortly before 11 pm Both Democrats and Republicans announced they had reached the deal and starts necessary steps to adopt the bill and send it to Mr. Obama next week.

Democrats said that under the agreement, the budget measures would not include a provision Republicans sought to limit the environmental regulations and to restrict funding for family planning and other groups that provide abortions. But Mr. Boehner said in a statement that the agreement included restrictions on abortion funding in Washington.

Because of the need to put in legislative form of compromise, congressional leaders said the House of Representatives and the Senate will vote in the night to pass a stopgap measure funding government on Thursday to prevent any interruption in the flow of federal dollars. Actual compromise budget will be reviewed next week.

The Senate approved a stopgap measure to 11:20 pm and the House approved it after midnight. Office of Management and Budget issued memo saying the normal work of the government were in the right direction.

The agreement came after a day of harsh accusations and more obvious impasse. Mr Reid accused Republicans of wanting to close the federal government, insisting on the reduction of funds for women's services Hit. Mr. Boehner said the level of expenditure was a checkpoint.
