Breaking News About UNLV players

A few days ago, Lon Kruger, gathered his players after training on the campus of UNLV team to address some rumors that have swirled it is attached to job openings across the country.

Some have heard these rumors, or read about them, some do not.

"He talked a lot not to believe everything you read," sophomore guard Anthony Marshall said. "We thought we had nothing to worry about, so it just kind of shocking, but I understand that this is business."

The business side of college basketball players are now left rebels wondering what will happen next, as Krueger, who just completed his seventh season in Las Vegas on Friday took the vacant position in Oklahoma.

"It would have been different if it was a high school basketball, but in college and professional levels, it's just business," added Marshall. "I'd be lying if I said I was not saddened by this. He's a great coach. At the same time, I understand that this is business and it happens a lot."

Marshall was reached on his mobile phone, and in the city, but he said he probably will be held at 9:30 pm team meeting today on campus, where Kruger will address the players.

Kruger met with the Oklahoma Athletic Director Joe Castiglione and President David Boren in Dallas on Friday morning, taking a seven-year, $ 16 million proposal that would double U.S. $ 1.1 million he pulled in a year at UNLV. Sooners will pay UNLV $ 500,000 ransom for the two years remaining on the current deal Kruger.

Other players plan to present at the meeting, and the mood should be interesting.

"Right now, I just feel like everyone cares about how things are going to go with them individually," sophomore forward Quintrell Thomas said. "When a coach leaves, it directly affects you, because it can be in Kentucky, where the guys have been there before. New coach brings in his own people, and you're worried about your playing time.

"I'm just like everybody else. I'm in wait and watch mode. I do not know what to do right now. It's a little nervous because the coach can come in, I do not like at all and I will not play. I'm at the end of my studies in college only two years left to play. "

Thomas redshirted during the 2009-10 season after transferring from Kansas, and after trying to find support in his first season at UNLV, hit a step too late and the interior has become a reliable force on both ends of the floor in the Kruger.
